KS is proud to announce our Annual General Meeting! The AGM is a chance for Undergraduate Kinesiology Students to voice their concerns and ideas about the KS, the Department of Kinesiology, and ways we can better serve you. This includes any events, procedures, and constitution edits you would like to see or change in the future. Also, hear what we've been up to this year and what we plan to do next year!

Constitution Edits

This year the KS has focused on making changes to the constitution that involve the use of current attitudes towards gender identity, modernization of roles on KS, and the formal 'writing in' of certain roles and responsibilities. All items will have the opportunity to be discussed at the AGM and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Below is a list of major changes being proposed, for the full edit please consult the documents below.

  • all gendered pronouns of 'he/she/him/her/etc' have been changed to 'they/them/theirs'

  • we have combined the Director of Media and VP Communications roles into the VP Media & Communications position

    • This reworked position will host the Media & Communications Subcommittee and work towards increasing student engagement on KS social media

    • this new role will be an interview-based position to ensure a qualified person in the role

  • all 5 subcommittees; KINect, KAAC, EDI, Graduation, and the new Media & Communications have been written in with the inclusion of executive roles leading these committees

  • a clearer and more effective timeline has been developed for the incoming VP Finance (still an interview-based position)

    • they will work alongside the current VP Finance for a few months in order to become acquainted with the financial processes within the Department

  • the EDI Representative will continue to be an interview-based position to ensure that a qualified and committed individual is in the role, who will offer and teach the KS and Department on becoming a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment

  • all members holding an executive or running for an executive position must be in good academic standing

  • the inclusion and more consistent use of abbreviations such as; WW for Welcome Week, MSU for McMaster Students Union, etc

  • general language and grammar tweaking
